Recognition Day Nov 14, 2010
We celebrated the achievement for all our advance learners on Nov 14, 2010 with lots of fun, gifts, food and laughter, in front of their proud parents. The event was held in the Putra Heights Centre from 10am to 12noon. Total of 44 award winners, many with the conviction that the program will take them through the journey to the ivory tower with ease, especially on the subject they are studying in.

These are our award winners (names as per the ASHR 2010 Recipients), with the instructor Ms Wong and Division Leader Jacklyn Wong. We also like to record our appreciation to all parents who joined us to grace this special event. Also to Teacher Saadiah, Teacher Syaza and Teacher Dina, Division Leader Jacklyn Wong and Area Manager Dorothy Choo who have been part of the team to make this event possible.
With the warm welcome from Ms Wong (the instructor) and the a laud applause to the winners, we officially kick of the award ceremony.
Jacklyn Wong, the division leader from the Kumon Head Office gave the opening address and stressed the importance of self learning and the journey of Kumon learning is not exam focus, not quick fixes, instead, a long term commitment that aims at character building and academic excellence.
With the choices of having their Happy Meals or games or medals, the children were undecided which one they preferred to begin with. After seeking consensus from parents, we started off by giving away the medals, follow by Q&A and finally the Happy Meals.
Congratulations to all our proud winners of the ASHR 2010 awards. We would like to see them to be the recipients for many more years to come till they become the completers.

School Examination
Often parents share their concern when the child did not do well in the school examination, even the child is already learning Kumon Maths.
School examination often covers a broader scope than Kumon Maths and therefore, we can analyze the area of weakness which may include specific topic, basic (Maths) skill, comprehension (language) skill, degree of complexity of the question (difficulty), attention span etc..Knowing where the gap is, our action plan will be well targeted.
When a child is learning 2 years or more beyond the school grade, parents will usually observe a significant difference in the child's ability in his/hers school work. This will further enhance with the child's language ability. Besides able and confident with his/her Mathematics skills, the child is using his/her language skills to translate the words questions to a Mathematics equation and solve them.
It is equally important to provide the support to our child to be confident with his/her language skills.
